Main crop outlook: good flowering across the belt, drying capacity is the bottleneck
Field officers report strong pod set in Nimba and Bong. The constraint this season will be fermentation and drying, not fruit.
Field reports from Nimba, Bong and Lofa describe healthy flowering and early pod set after well-distributed rains. Black pod pressure is present in low-lying farms and will need sanitation harvesting and copper treatment where infection appears.
The bottleneck is after harvest
If pod set converts to harvest, several districts will produce more wet beans than their current fermentation boxes and drying tables can handle. Beans that wait in sacks are beans that mould. Members with processing capacity should list availability on the marketplace now; cooperatives expecting surplus should book fermentary slots early.
Recommended now
- Sanitation harvest: remove and bury infected pods weekly
- Repair fermentation boxes and drying tables before October
- Agree grading terms with buyers before volumes peak
